Chiropractor
B ChiroSc, MChiro, ART practitioner.
Treatment Approach
Sandra approaches neuromusculoskeletal imbalances holistically. She combines trigger point release, Active Release Technique (ART), mobilisations, manipulations and rock taping/taping to address patient complaints. ART is a massage technique that treats problems with muscles, ligaments, tendons, nerves and fascia. Some of the many conditions that are resolved quickly and permanently with ART are carpal tunnel syndrome, back pain, headaches, shoulder pain, plantar fascitis, knee problems and tennis elbow. The combination of ART with rock taping greatly assists in a faster recovery from these injuries, which are often the result of overused muscles.
Sandra also has an interest in working with pregnant women and assisting children with learning and behavioural problems. Back pain is a common problem with pregnant women and chiropractic has had success in addressing this pain. Retained primitive reflexes are thought to contribute to child learning and behavioural problems. Sandra has undertaken further courses, such as Switched on Kids and International Chiropractic Paediatric Association (ICPA) module, which included the Webster Technique for breached babies, to obtain the necessary skills to assist in addressing these problems. She intends to continually undertake courses in these areas to further her skills for the benefit of her patients.
Professional History
Sandra completed her Bachelor of Chiropractic Science in 2009 and continued to complete her Masters in Chiropractic Science at Macquarie University in Sydney. In 2010, she completed two modules of the ART course, spine and upper limb. In 2011, she undertook an ICPA module dealing with Autistic children, children with Cerebral Palsy and pregnant women with emphasis on breached babies and the Webster technique. In 2011, she also undertook the Switched on Kids course, which focused on cranial adjustments, addressing retained reflexes and proprioception problems, which contribute to a child’s learning and/or behavioural problems.
Sandra has recently returned to her home state of Queensland and is looking forward to starting her career where she can focus her energy on improving her patients overall health and wellbeing.
When Sandra is not focused on Chiropractic she is an avid reader with eclectic taste, enjoys social cycling and exercise, and spending as much time with her family as possible.
